At a time of significant growth and policy interest in community development finance, it is crucial to have clear and concise ways of understanding the performance of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). Demonstrating their performance is, itself, a critical part of their mission, and this has to be done in a verifiable way. This briefing, developed in consultation with the CDFI sector and written by Thomas Fisher, Ed Mayo and Danyal Sattar, reviews the kind of performance assessment that is required and sets out a proposed set of benchmarks and indicators.
